AcuityMaster for Windows is no longer available
The original Windows desktop edition — the perpetual-license software many practices have run since 2012 — is no longer sold. AcuityMaster Cloud has replaced it.
If you already run the Windows edition — you have not been forgotten
Some of you have run this software since 2012. You bought it when it was one clinician writing code between clinics, and that is not something we intend to walk away from.
Your software keeps working. There is no license server to expire, no remote switch, and no update waiting to break it. Nothing changes on your machines because of this announcement.
We are still supporting it. If something breaks, email us and we will help. We will not keep that going indefinitely — but we will tell you well before anything changes, rather than letting you find out when you need help.
A transition program is being built, and it is meant to be worth taking. Existing customers will get preferential pricing on AcuityMaster Cloud, held for as long as the subscription stays active — not a first-year discount that quietly resets. We are working out the details now and will contact you directly with the specifics.
If you would rather not wait, get in touch and we will talk it through. Any question about your current installation is welcome too.
What replaced it
AcuityMaster Cloud runs in a web browser on the Mac or Windows computers already in your exam lanes — and on iPad. There is nothing to install, updates arrive automatically, and a seat is one signed-in browser session rather than a license tied to a machine, so replacing a computer no longer means repurchasing anything.
Every chart type the Windows edition offered is present: Snellen, ETDRS and LogMAR, reduced-contrast acuity, Worth 4-Dot, color vision, pediatric optotypes, and the full range of configurable settings. Nothing clinical was dropped in the move.
Frequently asked
Does my existing Windows license still work?
Yes. Your installed software continues to run. What has ended is the sale of new Windows-edition licenses.
Can I still buy additional Windows workstations?
No. New and additional Windows-edition licenses are no longer available. AcuityMaster Cloud is the product sold today.
What happens to my practice?
Your installation keeps running and we keep supporting it. Beyond that, a transition program with preferential pricing for existing customers is being built — see the note at the top of this page — and you will be contacted directly with the specifics. If you would rather not wait, contact us and we will talk through your options.

Existing Windows customer and need to reinstall?
Replaced a workstation or rebuilt a machine? Request your installer from the Windows download page. Your existing license key still works.
